In a very high scoring game, the Lobbyists beat the Lawmakers 9-7 on Wednesday night in the traditional Congressional Hockey Challenge .
Hosted at the Kettler Capitals IcePlex, the practice facility for the NHL's Washington Capitals in Arlington, Va., five members of Congress played for the Lawmakers. They were: Reps. Erik Paulsen, R-Minn., Tom Emmer, R-Minn., Patrick Meehan , R-Pa., Larry Bucshon, R-Ind., and John Katko, R-N.Y. Each member had at least a point, meaning either a goal or an assist. In a back-and-forth game over all three periods, the Lawmakers tied it 7-7 with with about four minutes left. Andrew Mills of the Niskanen Center scored the game-winning goal for the Lobbyists with 90 seconds left. Then the lawmakers pulled their goalie in an attempt to come back and the Lobbyists got another goal on an empty net.
